So little time

Ocracoke was great. Arnold, Scott and I enjoyed ourselves and relaxed. Brian brought some very good thoughts from Isaiah 42.3 "A bruised reed shall he not break and the smoking flax shall he not quench, ..."

I told a couple of people that I was raised in such a literal and legalistic christian environment that I am prone to worry about the wrath and judgement of God and forget his mercy. But as I leave behind my past and lay aside the literal interpretations of scripture I find much more liberty, joy and abundance of happiness in new freedoms.

Arnold told me about a book he was reading on our trip and today he brought it to me. I have it along with 5 other books waiting on me to read in front of me. Thus the title, "So little time." The book he brought to me today has a very funny, funny to me at least, title. "When Christians Roamed the Earth." Depending on how old you are you may or may not remember the 1989 release of the book "When Dinosaurs Roamed the Earth" by Stephen Attmore. I wouldn't have remembered the author's name without looking it up, but I remember the book. I'm not going to equated Christians with dinosaurs, but some definitely have dinosaur DNA.

Anyway. I've been working such weird hours and trying to get a grip on a new department I have not been able to read like I want to lately.

I have not finished "Why Men Hate Church" yet, but I'm working on it. I'll do what I can to summarize it here and write enough of a review that perhaps others will find it and read it as well.

Blessings.
