Digging again

Been reading Hugh Ross' "Why the Universe is the Way it is." Ross is the founder of Reasons to Believe ( www.reasons.org ) and author of a number of books including "Creation as Science" and "The Creator and the Cosmos." A very interesting if intense read.

Just wanted to throw in another promo for http://biologos.org/.  Pete Enns has a very thought provoking article on Adam. I won't go into it here, but if you link directly to the article here http://www.biologos.org/blog/adam-is-israel/ and read through, including the comments you might find some resolutions to questions in Genesis that seem to keep Bible contentionists (OK, I made the word up, but it is descriptive of people who are in constant contention with the Bible, and besides, I like the word) at arms length with Bible literalists. BTW, Dictionary.com suggest contortionist for contentionist. Appropriate. Perhaps sacred scripture contortionist would be description as well.

The most glaring problem I have with the Genesis account of Adam is Original Sin. I have serious problems with the entire thought process of Original Sin and when I have sought explanations and reasonable dialog with persons of the cloth I normally get quoted scripture that I already know with no systematic thought progression presented.

I know I exasperate people with my probing of current acceptable positions on scripture meaning, but if the scripture interpretations can't stand up to vigorous cross examination I am reluctant to trust them. I am investing my eternal future in what I believe and I am reluctant to take a lot of current interpretation at face value.

Check out the Biologos site and see if it broadens your horizons. I'm betting it will. Oh, nearly forgot, we aren't supposed to bet. Mom just turned over in her grave. Sorry mom.
