Thinkin'

Been thinking about upgrading my application software knowledge base by becoming a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist, or MCAS. It is a course and a battery of tests to bring someone who uses Microsoft Office 2007 products up to date on the latest version of MS Office. Then I could return to teaching. I always enjoyed teaching but gave it up sometime before my leaving the computer field. I feel like I may be too far behind on the hardware side to teach computer repair, but believe I could get up to speed on Office applications without a terrible amount of difficulty.

Georgiann and I had Jill and Mari over for dinner tonight. Mari talked all week about coming over for turkey, but we had chicken cooked in the crock pot along with dressing, gravy, corn on the cob, biscuits and more. She didn't even know. Once again I ate and drank too much. Ice tea if you really want to know. I had a small Coke today, something I avoid mostly now. I have been drinking only sweet ice tea, lemonade sweetened with sweetener and ice water. If I have to give up any more I will fore go the sweet ice tea. And if more needs to go I'll drop back to ice water. Can't really enjoy life without ice water. summer OR winter.

Been watching the winter Olympics. I have enjoyed everything I've seen. I was especially pleased to see Evan Lysacek take the gold. Evgeni Plushenko just came across a little too cocky and egotistical. I also enjoyed watching the 23 year old Daisuke Takahashi from Japan skate. The women's downhill snow boarding was exciting and watching Shaun White was amazing. That guy is very exciting to watch. Liked seeing Shani Davis speed skating. I learned to ice skate the winter of 1972/73 on Back River in Baltimore, MD. Well, I learned to stay up more than I fell down. Not a lot more, but I had a ball those first few years in the 70s. I've only ice skated a couple of times since, both times at an indoor rink and believe me it is not the same. Actually it is MUCH better. But I had fun on the open ice as well.

Been trying to put some things in place at work that I believe will have long term benefit, but it is slow. I have complete approval from my managers so far. I hope to make some tangible progress on that soon.

Warmer temperatures around here this weekend. I will be trying to get some more cabinet doors made for our kitchen face lift.

Other than that not too much else I can talk about in public and mixed company.
