Today is Saturday 12/05/09. The weather people have been forecasting snow today for a while and snow it did. By 10 am we had about 3 inches of wet and beautiful snow.
It continues to snow rather heavily and predictions are for several more inches before it ends during the 8 pm hour this evening. Temperatures will begin to increase during the night and Sunday with an expected high at 3 pm of 39F.
So, a very pretty snow, but perhaps a little hazardous on the streets and highways. Both of our vehicles are 4 wheel drive and we both are very experienced in driving in a lot more snow than this, but we have to watch out for the drivers who freak out and don't have a clue. Lots of those around here.
For the few people I know that are dancing in little circles right now with excitement I am happy for you. To my little Ethiopian granddaughter, of all people, my crazy about snow friend Deborah, and her Chinese daughter Kaili and others, enjoy! It's not that I dislike snow, but in most ways it is a real pain to deal with.
I don't have a garage which is one pain. I work retail which involves gathering shopping carts scattered all over the place by customers. And I have to constantly watch out for other drivers. That is not to say I won't be the one who slides off the road on my own, but at the speeds I drive it is very unlikely.
I take my time and rarely use my brakes at all. Even in good weather. I anticipate all stops and normally am going slow enough to use my gears to stop. I always have people tailgating me of course, but I am always within the legal and weather constrained limits.
But working in the snow is not fun for me. I hope everyone who does like it enjoys it. I won't complain about it, but will certainly be happy to see it gone again for another winter.
